Located in Tata College, Chaibasa, a premier institute of higher education came into being on the eve of 1951 at Zila School, Chaibasa and the foundation of the present campus was laid by the then Chief Minister of Bihar, Dr. Srikrishna Singh on January 27, 1954. The existing sprawling campus buildings viz. Arts & Science Blocks, Administrative Unit, Hostels, Teachers’ Quarters, Indoor Stadium, Gymnasiums and Play Grounds spread over an area of 38 acres of land donated by the local villagers with the leadership of Late Sri P.C. Birua, the founder Secretary, was designed and constructed by the Tata Industrial House. The College became a Constituent Unit of Ranchi University in the year 1961. In 2005 the college was provincialized along with other 188 colleges by the government of Jharkhand. Kolhan University was established in 2009 at Chaibasa and the college became a constitute unit of the university., Recently, the college has taken initiatives to make the campus more techno-savvy, as a result the campus become fully Wi-Fi enabled which is available freely to the students and staff. The Central Library of the college is enabled with INFLIBINET subscription with adequate facility of reprography. All the departments and sections are well equipped with computers and internets along with printers and scanners. The challenge of electric power management has been recently resolved with installation of high capacity transformer, centralized generator and adequate numbers of inverters and UPSes. The management is planning to provide classrooms with ICT facilities and to connect all classrooms with the presently available well equipped Audio-Visual room. The college is also going to bring the benefit of Spoken Tutorial project by MNE through ICT to all its students., The college seems to be a beautiful garden with its students, who come from different economic, social, cultural, religious and lingual backgrounds but treated equally and get equal opportunity both in curricular and extra-curricular aspects for which the College Management and the Equal Opportunity Cell work round the clock. The college campus is free from ragging, sexual or any type of harassment and all kind of anti-social activities. After all, CCTV cameras have been installed at each corner of the campus along with inside the buildings for the safeguard of the students but not compromising with anyone’s privacy., The college has a clear motto for its student – ‘Creative and Constructive, Productive and Progressive and Innovative.’ Due to the dedicated teaching faculties and supporting staff, Tata College, Chaibasa has been always giving better output in compare to the input. Each year, a considerable amount of our students tops the university examinations. The pass percentage is also generally higher than other colleges of the university. Despite, the challenges of adequate teachers, our students has been bringing delights to us by their increasing success in extra-curricular activities in both state and national levels. Though there is no formal mechanism available at the college to record the students’ post-college progression and advance carrier option, yet through social networking and by some other media, the college tracks that significant percentage of our alumni are in responsible social, political, administrative and academic positions in service of nation, society and mankind., Tata College, Chaibasa is immensely aware of its Institutional Social Responsibilities. Accordingly, the institution has been thriving for social and national service at its level in all possible means. Cleanliness, plantation, digitization are few among many initiatives those are successfully implemented by the college team. Besides, the NSS unit as a solid team of teachers and students is effectively functioning in support of social causes and public awareness., Vision, Tata College, Chaibasa has a clear motto of producing generations of Creative and Constructive, Productive and Progressive as well as most Innovative learners who will be while earning sound livelihoods can positively serve the society, nation and human kind after getting quality education at the institute.
