Kalasalingam University Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 1984. In 1995 the Department became the first self-finance engineering college department in south India to offer M.E (CSE). From the year 2003 the department is offering a unique course on M.E Network Engineering. Based on the infrastructure and faculty strength the department was recognized as research centre by Anna University in 2003 to offer M.S (by Research) and PhD programs in the area of computer Science and Engineering. Courses Offered : => B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering => M.Tech Computer Science and Engineering => M.Tech Network Engineering => Ph.D. Computer Science and Engineering Infrastructure : Computer Graphics & Operating Systems Lab : Graphics & OS laboratory is equipped with the latest HCL & LENOVA Machines. The machines are loaded with Windows and Linux operating systems. Java, C and C++ compilers are also configured in all the clients. This lab imparts practical knowledge on Windows and red Hat Linux Operating system to the students. Students are made familiar with Open Source Technologies. Access to Internet services is available. Guidance is given to the students by a team of faculty members and lab technician. The labs are kept open after the college hours to enable the students to engage themselves in getting practiced with laboratory experiments in their leisure hours. Multimedia Lab : Multimedia Laboratory is equipped with the latest IBM LENOVA Machines. The machines are loaded with Windows. Java, C and C++ compilers are also configured in all the clients. Students are made familiar with Rational Rose software. The labs are kept open after the college hours to enable the students to engage themselves in getting practiced with laboratory experiments in their leisure hours. DBMS Lab : DBMS laboratory is equipped with the latest HCL & IBM Machines. The machines are loaded with Windows operating system. Oracle, C and C++ compilers are also configured in all the clients. This lab imparts practical knowledge on Database to the students. Guidance is given to the students by a team of faculty members and lab technician. The labs are kept open after the college hours to enable the students to engage themselves in getting practiced with laboratory experiments in their leisure hours. The lab is used to train the students to improve their programming knowledge and make experiments to get familiar with the Core Courses. Internet Lab : Internet Laboratory is equipped with the latest Lenova systems and is fully networked. It provides hands-on experience in Internet programming to the students and enables to apply knowledge in web programming. All the software’s such as Java, Web servers, Oracle are available for web programming. Students are given training to develop Web pages for various applications like Database Management, On-line services, Animation etc. Entry Level Lab : OOPS laboratory is well equipped with the latest HCL & LENOVA Machines. The machines are loaded with Windows. Java, C and C++ compilers are also configured in all the clients. This lab imparts practical knowledge on Windows and C++ to the students. Students are made familiar with the fundamental knowledge and skills to become a proficient C++ programmer and to develop the ability of using OOP to solve engineering problems. Guidance’s are provided to the students by a team of faculty experts and lab programmer. The lab is kept open after the college hours to enable the students to engage themselves in getting practiced with Laboratory experiments in their leisure hours. The lab is used to train the students to improve their programming knowledge and make experiments to get familiar with the Core Courses. Department Library : The Department of Computer Science And Engineering has a Library with more than thousands of documents consisting of Technical books and reports. The department library collections and resources include all the books related to computer science and engineering. Books such as programming languages, networking, Visual programming, Database management systems, Graphics, software engineering subjects are available.
