Kalasalingam University The Department of Physics, Kalasalingam University was started in 1984 through the pioneering vision of “Kalvi Vallal” Thriu T. Kalasalingam, it has grown into a department of research, with excellent active research in all front line areas of research. Presently the department is offering Ph.D., Pre Doctoral (M.Phil Physics) and Post Graduate (M.Sc. Physics) courses. The department of Physics has been involved in teaching to promote science and technology to the B.Tech and M.Sc. students. Courses Offered : => M. Sc. Physics => M.Phil. Physics => Ph.D. Physics Infrastructure : The department has well established infrastructure and facilities to meet all the requirements for all the programs offered. The well trained and experienced technical staff of the department is ably supporting the students in the teacher’s efforts to impart vital practical skills. Physics Laboratory : This lab is to conduct practical classes pertaining to the study of B.Tech and M.Sc. students. Major equipments available: Abbe Refracto Meter, Copper Arc Spectrum, Laser, Lee’s disc apparatus, Ultrasonic Interferometer single frequency for liquid, Ultrasonic Interferometer multi frequency for liquid, Ultrasonic Interferometer dual frequency for solid and liquid, Optical Fiber Kit, dielectric constant measurement instrument, bandgap determination setup, etc. are some of the available major instruments. Research Laboratory : This laboratory is used to synthesize materials (crystalline, poly-crystalline, amorphous and nano). Characterization facilities like Conductivity measurement, bandgap determination, and acoustical studies are available. The required Computational studies and related softwares are also available.
