Karnatak University, Dharwad Department of Folklore The Department was established in 1996 for conducting an advanced study and research in folklore. The Department has been successful in creating awareness among people about culture and its conservation. The study of folklore has inspired and prepared young students to take to active participation in different cultural activities and tribal welfare programs. The Department has a museum and a reference library. Vision To develop the Department as one of the best centers for Folkloristic studies and research. It also aims to create awareness in the society about the traditional knowledge and impact of globalization. Mission To develop the Department equipped with an Audio-Visual center to carry out scientific research work in the field of Folklore and develop a unique Folklore Museum as a unique in North Karnataka, and also to develop the skills of the students through appropriate and innovative training in order to equip them in globalization context.
