He was very much instrumental in starting many educational institutions under the umbrella of Basel Mission Higher Education Centre. A team of dedicated teachers like Mr. C.G.Ammanna, Mr. C.J.Sakkari, Mr. C.J.Ezra, Mr. P.Prakash, Mr. B.A. Bhasme and Mr. S.C.Gokavi always supported Mr. R.S.Bangera. They initiated the proposal for the establishment of a College to cater to the needs of higher education in the city of Dharwad. Thus Kittel College emerged as the Diocesan College of the then Mysore Northern Diocese of the Church of South India on 15th June 1968. The College is named after Dr. Ferdinand Kittel, a particularly iin Dharwad from 1883-84 as a missionary and as Principal of Basel Mission High School., The College prayer reminds us the objectives of the college- the imparting of sound learning, the building of character, the spread of spiritual truth and the knowledge of God. The vision set by the farsighted founders of the College in the golden words ”Seek and Ye Shall Find” is a wonderful divine promise. It invites us to seek God in prayer for wisdom and strength that we need. The cross in the center reminds us that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save the sinful world. Kittel Science College aims at scholarship, fellowship and leadership to mould the young students with a spirit of dedication for service in life.
