Karunya University, Coimbatore The Department of Computer Applications in the School of Computer Science and Technology started functioning in the year 1995 with the motto “Collaborate to Meliorate”. Since its inception, it has established a landmark in Academics and Research. It serves with the prime objective of educating and preparing students as dynamic, competent, valued and knowedgeable professionals who shall lead the nation to reach the forefront of leadership in the field of Information technology. The Department focuses on preparing globally competative IT professionals. These professionals are taught and trained to innovate and contribute to the growth of Science and Technology. Courses Offered : => Master of Computer Application (MCA) => M.SC Information Technology => Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) => Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Research and Development : The Faculty-Student Research Initiative is the Department’s ambitious commitment to support a broad array of research-oriented endeavours among graduate students, research scholars, and faculty. The initiative funds research opportunities, supports faculty and student participation at conferences and workshops, provides seed capital to develop innovative research projects. There are 4 faculties with PhD to guide research scholars in various domains. Research strength spans over diverse discipline like Image Processing, Network Security, Ad hoc Networks, Data and Information Management, Learning and Adaptive Systems, and Biologically-related Computing. Currently, the Department has 42 scholars registered for Ph.D. around 60 Research articles have been published in conferences and prestigious journals. As of now, the Department has produced five Ph.D scholars with good number of publications. Placements : Department has an enviable track record of academic excellence coupled with hands-on technical training, and innumerable industry-institute interaction to better equip students for the corporate world. To name a few, the department has embarked on promoting Business English Certificate, a course offered by the Cambridge University to assist students in improving their written and oral communication skills. The Department also provides famed on-campus technical training programs like Infosys Campus Connect, CCNA Certification Training, RedHat Certification Training, Oracle Java and Database Certification Training, etc. to enhance the technical abilities of students making them abreast in their respective area of interest.
