Located in Mar Ivanios college owes its existence to the farsighted vision of the late Archbishop Mar Ivanios of Trivandrum. It is one of the Malankara Syrian Catholic colleges established and administered by the Archdiocese of Trivandrum in accordance with the rights of the minority community guaranteed in the constitution of India. The late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios was the first Principal and Patron of the college for 40 years. His Grace The Most Rev.Cyril Mar Baselios, the Archbishop of Trivandrum is the patron of the college.Recommended by the Malcolm Adiseshiah Commission set up for the study of Higher Education in Kerala, for the Autonomous status in 1985, Mar Ivanios College is a pioneering Institution of Higher Education in Kerala since 1949.The first College under the Kerala University to be Accredited by NAAC, Mar Ivanios College has now been awarded the status of the College with Potential for Excellence by the UGC.
