Located in Jabalpur Engineering College or JEC Jabalpur previously known as Government Engineering College or GEC Jabalpur, established on 7 July, 1947 has a glorious past of providing quality education over past 60 years. It is one of the oldest technical institutions in India and Oldest Technical Institution in Central India and the state of Madhya Pradesh. Currently J.E.C is offering B.E degree courses in 8 disciplines and 9 post graduate courses in various engineering fields, 3 P.G. courses in applied Sciences and M.C.A. Jabalpur Engineering College celebrated its 50th anniversary in year 1997, the first citizen of India, his Excellency Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma graced the historic occasion with his benign presence.[1]The college was affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Technical University Bhopal (M.P.) The college was declared autonomous in 1998-1999 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. In june 2010 it declared deamed university (1st technical institute in M.P.) Jabalpur Engineering College was Ranked 31 All India for april 2010. It has one of the best workshop in asia to pratice with all equipment., JEC's learning environment embraces a self learning style of learning, which is an exploratory and independent style of learning. Unlike students at other colleges in India, you will be responsible for your own learning. Students are required to be self motivated, and to seek out help from staff at the earliest opportunity. Students are also required to analyse and challenge ideas, concepts and issues and to present their own interpretations. If students mention the theories or concepts of other authors or experts within the body of their work, students are required to formally acknowledge these sources.he college is successful in providing new and best equipped laboratories with latest instruments. The old laboratories have also been modernized with sophisticated accessories. A proposal of Rs. 214.78 lac for the Research & development Program, Rs. 135.90 lac for the development of the Women Program and rs. 78.50 lac for the renovation of building has been presented to the Govt., A scheme for making necessary changes and improvement in the building for the convenience of physically handicapped students has also been proposed., The college campus has 9 hostels for boys with a capacity of 814 students.There is a seperate hostel for girls, with a very limited accmodation of 100 seats.The college administrative authority over came this hurdle, by the construction of the new building on the ocation of diamod jubilee. ,This new wing of girl's hostel with a capacity of 50 seats wilcapacity of 50 seats.Training and placement office of the institution develops a close liaison with a number of prestigious industries so that the graduates from the portals of this institution get respectable jobs in various reputated firms.Carrer-Counselling and Campus Interviews are organised frequently to provide job oppertunities to the regular and the ex-students of this college..
