      About Moreh College, Moreh

      The Moreh College College was established during the academic session 1992-1993 to cater to the higher educational needs of the people of the international border town of Moreh and the surrounding remote villages within the Chandel district of Manipur in the hills. The College is at present a Government Aided College, managed by the Moreh College Governing Body.

      According to the census of india 1991, the Chandel District of Manipur had a total population of 71,014 of which 85.52% belonged to the Scheduled tribes and 0.33% Scheduled Castes. According to the 1991 census, the Chandel District recorded the lowest literacy rate of 34.80% as compared to 47.60 % of the state of Manipur.

      This is a Govt. College viz, The United College at the district headquarter of Chandel which is located at a distance of 90 Kms from Moreh. Another Government Aided College viz, The South Eastern Manipur College, Komlathabi is there in the district at a distance of 75 Kms from Moreh. In view of the acute shortage of College in the Moreh area in the district, The Moreh College was established during the academic session 1992-1993 as the 1st Institute of higher education in Moreh area in the Chandel District.

      List of facilities available at Moreh College, Moreh for students.

      The Library is well-stocked with volumes of prescribed text books and journals that have been purchased with the financial assistance from the State Government and University Grants Commission. Students are encouraged to avail of the facilities provided in the library.
      The college has a spacious play ground and a basket ball court for different out door games and sports activities. There is also a Multi Purpose Hall for indoor games. College Annual Games and Sports Meet is conducted annually.
      Good transportation facilities for its students, staff members and visiting guests.
      Students belonging to Scheduled tribe and Scheduled caste receive Post- matric scholarship from the Department of Tribals & Backward Classes, Government of Manipur.
      Proper healthcare arrangements are done by college. Proper Medical Facilities are available

      The College has been recognized by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur for opening Classes XI and XII in the following subjects from academic session 1995 96.
      2.COURSES UNDER MANIPUR UNIVERSITY

      Arts Stream:
      The College was granted Provisional Permission by the Manipur University to open three Year Degree Course (TDC) in the Arts Stream with effect from the academic session 1996 97 in the following subject,in additional to the compulsory subjects as per the pattern adopted by the University.
      3.COMMERCE STREAM: (1999 2000)
      The College was granted Temporary Affiliation by the Manipur University in 2000 and also granted to open three year Degree Courses (TDC) In Commerce stream with effect from the academic session 1999 2000.
      Thereafter, the College was granted Permanent Affiliation by the Manipur University, Canchipur, to open B.Sc. !st year from the academic session 2005 06 with the following subjects:
