Founded in 1970, Ideal Girls’ college is the only girls’ college in the Imphal East and the second oldest government girls’ college in the state. Starting in a small way as a private education entity, it gained the status of a Government College in the year 1979. It has been imparting academic values and other co-curricular activities to the girls-students of this rural area and its surroundings for the past 43 years., In its earlier avatar as a college of arts, it has now become a college of – Arts and Science- starting from this academic session 2013-2014 under orders No: 29/4/IGC/NAAC-HE/13: dated the May, 2013., The college has a campus of 7.5 acre in area with full fencing walls, a good play ground, a well-furnished girls hostel, two halls- one for multipurpose and another for indoor games. Apart from these, the library has abundant books around 12000 volumes on various subjects with the facility of Photostat and computers., The college has produced many sports-personals and earned several prizes in the inter college sports organized by Manipur University. It also gets involved in extension activities like providing NSS to the students., Today the college has very strong dedicated and experienced faculty members of 48. Many of them are Phd & M Phil holders.
