Mizoram University, Aizawl Department of Botany The Department of Botany was established in March 2005, while post-graduate classes began in August 2006. The department is now functioning with two Associate Professors, three Assistant Professors and one technical assistant. Students are being trained in modern areas of plant science with extensive laboratory investigations; equal emphasis is given to providing knowledge of classical Botany. The existing PG syllabus is under revision in order to include recent advances in plant science. Research programmes concentrating on the fundamental as well as applied aspects of plant science have been initiated in the department.
