Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is one of the premier institutes in the country offering education, training, research and consultancy in sustainable management of tourism, travel and other allied sectors. The stakeholders’ realization that the country’s need for professionals who could provide an excellent standard of products and services, resulted in the creation of IITTM in 1983 at New Delhi. Over the years, the Institute has established a distinguished identity of its own and reached at a commanding position among sectoral B-Schools in the country. With leadership, culture, innovation and organization development, IITTM has carved out a name for itself in the global scenario of travel and tourism education. With its focus in meeting the changing needs of the tourism industry, it has played a pioneering role in the propagation and professionalization of tourism education. The Govt. of India established the second centre of IITTM named Baji Rout Regional Centre for Eastern India at Bhubaneswar in 1996. Since 1996 IITTM, Bhubaneswar started its activities like tourism education, research and training in the Eastern Region, Southern Region and North Eastern States., Eyeing the immense potential of tourism in Eastern India and realizing the growing popularity of this region on the tourism map of the country led to the establishment of this centre which was named after the famous freedom fighter of the state Baji Raut. Initially the centre functioned from a building provided by the State Govt. at Forest Park. Govt. of Odisha has pleased to allot 5 acres of land and Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India have spent about 17.00 crores fror completion of the first phase of the campus.
