Several endeavours were made previously but all melted in fiasco. In 1980, in the month of June, final venture was made and Anchalika Mahavidyalaya, Kantabad emerged in the local High School on 24th July, 1980. The college later shifted to its own building on Madhubari mango groove near Banadurga Shakti Sthal in January 1982., A unique example was set by the ladies of this rural area those who volunteered spontaneously to donate their gold ornaments to materialise the long cherished hope of establishing this college. In no time 80 tolas of gold ornaments were collected from about 50 women.
