The long cherished dream to fulfill the need for higher education in this remotest corner of the tribal district of Mayurbhanj and on the frontier of Odisha-Jharkhand-Bengal came to reality on 13th August 1979 with the successful establishment of Seemanta Mahavidyalaya by ceaseless efforts of the local stalwarts. The college started off in the modest thatched house with 99 students and 14 numbers of staff. In 1980 the college was shifted to the existing building constructed by the management committee with land area of 15 acres obtained from the Govt. of Odisha.
