Punjab has scrapped the state-level combined entrance test (CET) for admission to undergraduate engineering course. From the next academic session, the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) will be the criterion to enter the state colleges, said Suresh Kumar, principal secretary (technical education and industrial training), here on Sunday. Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar invites applications for admission to Combined Entrance Test (CET) Exam for the academic session 2022-23 at its Jalandhar Campus.

Eligibility Criteria
The minimum academic qualification for appearing the PTUCET exam is a pass in 10+2 with Maths, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects.
For B.Tech:
- You need to have cleared (10+2) or its equivalent with physics and Maths as the main subjects and any of Computer science, chemistry, biotechnology, Biology as optional subject are applicable for degree B.Tech.
- Those of you having a Diploma in Engineering stream from Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chandigarh or Diploma/ Certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal or such Examinations form any other recognized State Board of Technical Education are also eligible for PTUCET examination.
For B.Arch:
You need to have cleared (10+2) or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks with mathematics and English as subjects of Examination are eligible to apply for Architecture Course.
3 year Diploma holders with a minimum of 50% marks would be eligible for the admission to 1st year of B.Arch. course subject to an aptitude test.
For B. Pharm:
To get admission for B. Pharm, you need to possess a qualification equivalent to 10+2 with physics and chemistry as mandatory subjects along with any of Computer Science, Bio-Technology or mathematics as the optional subjects or 3 year diploma in pharmacy from an institute tied up to Punjab Technical Education and Industrial Training with a minimum of 50% marks in total.
For Lateral Entry:
Admission to different universities would be governed by their respective eligibility criteria from any other University. 15% of seats in each college- Admission would be on the basis of AIEEE merit; those of you who are applying under this category need not to take CET.
However, you need to fill up the CET admission application form of PTU and submit application before the due date. The AIEEE score is valid for those of you who are residents of states other than Punjab.
Application Fees
The Application fee can be submitted in both online and offline mode.
The application fee will be Rs. 500/- for UR candidates and 250/- for SC/ST categories applicable to those applying for entrance exams.
For online counseling, aspirants need to pay Rs – 2000/- as a counseling fee for choosing a particular course.
Mode of Payment:
Online: Candidates can pay the application fee through a Credit card/ Debit Card
Offline: Candidates can also send a demand draft in favor of ‘Registrar, IKGPTU Payable at Jalandhar’.
The counseling fee for a single course is INR 2000/-
How to Apply
Candidates who are interested to give PTU Combined Entrance Test needs to fill the application form and pay the registration fees. Candidate need to follow the mentioned below steps:
- The online application starts from April
- Candidates need to fill the application form by mentioning the personal details
- The candidates will get the application form on a payment of Rs. 550/- from the PTU Counter. The candidates can also apply through the DD of Rs. 600/-.
- The last date to fill the application form will be by May
Exam Pattern
- You need to prepare according to the 12th standard syllabus. You should prepare for subjects like Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics as per the requirements of the course programs.
- The PTU CET exam pattern of this entrance test usually consists of 5 separate sessions.
- The first 3 sessions comprise objective types of questions in core subjects.
- They also consist of descriptive types of questions that include short answer questions and some numerical examples.
- Now the 4th session is to check the proficiency of yours and that is in their local language Punjabi. And last session is to measure their Architectural aptitude.
- It is only for B. Arch course individuals. This entrance examination is always in English language.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket
The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.
The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.
Results
Candidate was intimated through sms on the date of result declaration only if they get seat in their preferred course. After getting a sms, candidate have to login in their account and check seat allotment from the official site. Candidate keep the printout of the provisional allotment letter of the allotted branch/college.
Counselling
After the declaration of the results which will be displayed as merit list on the official website of Punjab Technical university and based on the merit list candidates will have choice to select the colleges in which they wish to get the admission and candidates will be called for the counselling after clearing their examination and candidates have to produce documents required at the admission and admission fees to be paid and seat will be allotted to the candidates.
