Department of Social Work

The Udaipur School of Social Work, founded in August, 1959, is a constituent unit of the Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed University), Udaipur.

Courses Offered :

=> M.A Social Work => Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) => Ph.D Social Work

Eligibility :

M.A Social Work : Candidates possessing Bachelor’s degree (with 10+2+3 Scheme) in Arts, Science or Commerce with 50 percent marks are eligible to apply. The Students appearing in the final year T.D.C. Exam. may also apply, submitting their I and II year T.D.C. examination results (marksheets), subject to the condition that even after declaration of their third year result, the overall marks scored by them shall not be less than 50 percent and they shall submit their third year mark sheet up to the specified date. Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) : Candidate having Bachelors’ degree from a recognized University in any discipline with at least 45% marks in aggregate.

Research :

Towards the beginning of the Semester II, each student will have to prepare the design and tools for conducting an individual/group research project for which data will have to be collected during the summer vacations and the writing up of the research project shall be completed in Semester III and Semester IV, the Final and typed draft of the thesis will be submitted in duplicate by the student. The Director of Research issues necessary guidelines regarding research which will have to be strictly followed by the students.

Activities :

NSS : The National Service Scheme Programme will be undertaken by the students of M. A. Part I and II. Games and Sports : The School also provides facilities for games like Table Tennis, Badminton, Volley-ball etc. The School also organizes inter-class game competitions and participates in Inter-college Tournaments organized by the University. The Annual Sports meet is also organized by the School. FORM For Social Workers : Since the students of Social Work will have to play a role in the development of their profession, all the students will be members of the Forum for Social Workers. The office bearers of the Forum will consist of six members, three from Part II and three from Part I selected in the order of merit. The Forum will lead the students in all professional, curricular, extra-curricular and other student activities; and will represent the students at the University and other Forums.

Infrastructure :

Hostel : Male students can stay in the Hostel located in the School Campus in Pratapnagar. Since seats are limited, the Institution reserves the right to admission. The School is located 6 Kilometers, away from the city and the bus services are neither regular nor convenient, all the students both hostellers and day scholars are expected to have a Two-Wheeler vehicle. This will be helpful for both individual and group visits for field work, for field trips to villages, institutions, factories and for visiting other libraries. Library : The School Library has about 13,000 books and a large number of journals, reports and other documents. The collection represents a very useful and complete working library for staff and students. About 50 important Journals and Periodicals in Social Work as well as related fields are received currently.
