Located in The Malaviya Regional College, Jaipur is one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges established in the country by the Government of India. The college is a joint venture of the Government of India and the State Government of Rajasthan. It was established in the year of 1963 with a provision to start five year Bechelor of Engineering Programme in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Metallurgical Engineering. The duration of the B.E. Degree courses was changed to four years from the academic session 1983-84. The administration and management affairs of the college are vested in a Socity named as "THE MALAVIYA REGIONAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE SOCITY"., The college is under the administrative control of a Board of Governors. It is financed by the Central Government and the State Government. The college is affiliated to the University of Rajasthan for the purpose of examination and the award of Degrees. This is otherwise an Autonomous college of the Unversity of Rajasthan. The college was set up with the objective of providing facalities for higher education,research and traning in various areas of engineering and technology.Since its inception,the college is commited to the cause of technical upgradation of the State in perticular and of the country in general. It is a matter of proud that the college is well-known for its execellent academic and extra-curricular standards. Itis actively engaged in research,cosultancy and development activities. The college has been reconized as an institution of repute by the Government of India. The State Government has shown its keen interest in the development of this college. It may get the status of Deemed University very soon. Institution is getting finantial assistance from under UK-INDIA TEC project and IMPACT project.Financial assistance from these project has greatly helped in modernization of the college., At present,the college offers 4 year undergraduate courses of study leading to the bachelor of engineering degree in chemical, civil, computer,electrical , Electronics and Communication,Mechanical and Metallugical Engineering and five Year Bachelor of Architecture Degree. For other teaching Department Namely department of Chemistry ,Physics,Humanties and Mathematics are actively engaged with the overall developement of the college.The college also offers full-time/part-time postgradute courses in the engineering leading to degree in Master of Engineering in water Resourses Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electronics and communication,Manufacturing System Engineering, Non-Ferrous Metallurgy and CAD in Structural Engineering. These courses provide advanced learning of the subjects and prepare manpower with expertisation in seleted fields of engineering and technology. Faclities for research work leading to the doctorate level are also available in various department of college. In addition to these,the college also has established a Centre for management and industrial collaboration which encourages industry-institute interation.The centre offers a post -graduate course in management. The Central library and the Central Computer Centre of the college are the backbone of the institution and are accesible to the students and staff of all departments., The campus of the college is spread over an area of 417 Acers .It presents a spectacle of harmony in modern architecture,natural beauty and picturesque surroundings.The campus area has been organised in the three funtional sectors:, The instructional buildings include departments , Central library and adminstrative block and are at a walking distance from the students hostels and staff colony. A canteen near the instructional zone and one near the hostels provide facilties to the students and the staff during and beyond the working hours. In addtion to the existing guest-house,one more guest-house is made available to cater the needs of students,gaurdians and guests of staff members. Adequate facilities are available for sports and games and for co-curricular activities. The campus is well laid out with roads,electrical installations,water supply and underground drainage system etc.. The re is branch of The Bank of Rajasthan Limited and a Post-Office in the campus. A full-fledged Dispensary is available in the campus.It is supervised by a residental Medical - officer. The services of a part-time Homeopathy Doctor and a Lady Doctor are also available to the students and to family members of the staff. The college enviroment is beautiful example of National Integration. The college is located on the Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg in a campus admist beautiful surroundings with forest-parks,public parks and hillocks.Most of the research and training centers and the institutions for higher learing are located within a distance of 5 Kms. from the college.The college is about 3 kms. away from the University of Rajasthan.
