Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Gajanur, Shimoga Dist. was established in the year 1986 by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous body which comes under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, New Delhi. Navodaya Vidyalaya is the dream child of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the Ex-Prime Minister of India. This vidyalaya was established in the year 1986 in the hands of the founder Principal Shri. H. N. S. Rao Ex. Deputy Commissioner (Academics), NVS, New Delhi who had formatted the school in such a way that it continues to be the Jewel of Shimoga district. The School campus is spread over an area of thirty acres having all amenities to cater to the needs of about 540 students and 45 staff members. The ambiance provided in the school nurtures the rural talent of children of Shimoga district. JNV Gajanur is fortunate enough to be one of the 33 Smart Schools of India which provides the great opportunity for the students and teachers to integrate the latest Technology in the field of Education.   This Vidyalaya takes steps to preserve the local Folk Arts such as Dollu Kunitha and Yakshagana . Our Vidyalaya is acting as a Pace Setting Institution in the District by extending all co-operation to the neighborhood schools and community. This vidyalya is able to maintain the balance between the rural students and the modern quality education.
