Sainik School Nalanda was established with the primary aim of preparing boys, particularly of Bihar domicile academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy and the Naval Academy. The School is a residential public school for boys functioning under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. Inaugurated by the Hon'ble Raksha Mantri Shri George Fernandes, The School came into existence on 12 Oct 2003 and has been functioning in Zila Parishad Inspection Bungalow at Rajgir in Nalanda District of Bihar. Mauryans have made their presence felt at the National Level Though, the School is only 12 years old, made its presence felt not only at State level but also at the National level by producing the best results in the All India Secondary School Examination. The School has also bagged the "General Officer Commanding, Madhya Bharat Area Jabalpur has adjudged Sainik School Nalanda as the Best Sainik School among all the five Sainik Schools of Central zone on overall performance for the academic session 2014-15 fourth times.
