Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur Department of Library & Information Science Year of Establishment of the Department: 1982 Brief history : In order to meet the human resource needs of libraries during Nineteen Eighties, the University authorities took steps to start certificate course in Library and Information Science with the available resources in the library. B.L.I.Sc., was started with the permission from the UGC during 1984-85. The M.L.I.Sc., and research courses leading to M.Phil., and Ph.D., were started during Nineties. The department has the credit of running summer course for college librarians leading M.L.I.Sc., Degree for the first time in the country.
