Bond University PhD Scholarships 2014:
Bond University invites applications for Bond University PhD Scholarships 2014 from students wishing to undergo a PhD programme in the year 2014 at the university. The scholarships are provided to applicants of exceptional research potential in four different areas and require a student’s full participation and collaboration with the faculty and other students at the University of Sydney, the Australian institute of Sport (Canberra), the Diamantina Institute (University of Queensland; UQDI) and the CRN partner organisations. The four areas where the Bond University PhD Scholarships 2014 is offered are listed below:
* Intensity, Duration of Exercise Adaptation: This programme requires the student to be enrolled at the Bond University and involves investigating the molecular processes underlying human adaptation to exercise.
* The genetics of exercise induced injuries, tendon & bone: The programme involves investigating phenotypic and genetic data to detect genetic polymorphisms that may indicate an increased risk of, or protection from, tendon and bone injury in runners. The student in this programme will be enrolled at Bond University and based at the Australian Institute of Sport- Canberra
* Genomic determinants of muscle performance in health and disease: In this programme the students will investigate determinants of muscle performance (power and endurance) in cohorts of high performance athletes, and correlated with similar measures in cohorts of elderly individuals. For this programme, a background in bioinformatics or statistical genetics with computer programming skills is essential. The student will be based at University of Queensland Diamantina Institute.
* Genomic predictors of musculoskeletal injury and relationship to osteoporosis and osteoarthritis: The programme involves investigating genetic determinants of risk of tendon injury (Achilles tendinitis) and stress fracture in young to middle-aged athletes, including their contribution to osteoporosis and osteoarthritis in older age cohorts. This programme requires a background in bioinformatics or statistical genetics with computer programming skills. The student will be based at University of Queensland Diamantina Institute.

The Bond University PhD Scholarships 2014 eligibility criteria are:
* Applicants must have an Australian bachelor’s degree with first class honours or an equivalent.
* Applicants must be intending to enrol full-time in a PhD program for commencement in the year 2014.
* Applicants must show exceptional research potential.
Value of the award:
The Bond University PhD Scholarships 2014 includes a living allowance of AUD $ 25, 392 per annum (tax exempt) for three years. This allowance is paid as a fortnightly stipend whilst undertaking a PhD.
