Located in The Hindustan College of Engineering started in the year 1985, is affiliated to the University of Madras,and approved by the Govt.of Tamil Nadu to conduct Engineering degree courses and post-graduate degree programme. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, New Delhi. HCE is one of the most sought after Engineering Colleges in TamilNadu. Through years, successive additions were made to infrastructural facilities, thereby updating the requirements to refine professional skills for those who seek it from us. The campus holds a student community who are multilingual and multi Nationals. E. / B. Arch Qualifying Exam : A pass in HSC (Academic) / CBSE / Pre-degree / Plus Two level / equivalent with minimum eligibility marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Or A pass with minimum eligibility marks in one of the HSC (Vocation Stream)with Engineering / Technology as Vocational subjects and any one or two of the related subjects like Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. Or Any other equivalent qualification approved by the State Board of Technical Education and Training/Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu,and universities in Tamil Nadu. Minimum Eligibility Marks: i. For SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying examination will suffice and the minimum marks are the same as the passing minimum for the ESC and the diploma exams of the State of Tamil Nadu. ii.Candidates belonging to communities other than SC/ST should have obtained the following minimum marks: 1. HSC (Academic) CBSE / Pre-degree / Plus and other equivalent examinations: i. Minimum of 60% in Mathematics ii Minimum of 60% in Physics and Chemistry put together iii. Average of 60% (120/200) in (i) and (ii) taken together 2. HSC (Vocational) Candidates i. Minimum of 60% in related subjects ii. Minimum of 60% in the Vocational subject, theory and practical put together. iii Aggregate average of 60% in (i) and (ii). NOTE For Backward Most Backward candidates from Tamil Nadu, the minimum percentage of marks as detailed above for the admission to B. E. / B. Arch.Lateral Entry are as follows: For Backward Community i. 60% in Mathematics ii 60% in Physics and Chemistry put together with an aggregate average of 65% in (i) & (ii). For Most Backward Community i. 55% in Mathematics ii. 55% in Physics and Chemistry put together with an aggregate average of 60% in (i) & (ii) (i.e. 120/200). FC/BC/MBC/ DC candidates should have scored the above marks in not more than 2 appearances and SC/ST candidates in not more than 3 appearances. IMPORTANT NOTE 1. Candidates from other states irrespective of their community, will be considered only as OC (other community) for the purpose of considering the minimum eligibility marks. 2. All candidates except CBSE students who have passed the qualifying exam from other states should produce an eligibility certificate from the University of Madras before admission. AGE LIMIT The candidates should not have completed the age indicated below on the1st of July Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes - 24 years Tamilian Repatriates from Burma & Sri Lanka - 24 years All others - 21 years b) LATERAL ENTRY SCHEME (Direct admission to II Year for Diploma candidates) Diploma holders from Government approved institutions with minimum eligibility marks are eligible for direct admission to second year of B.E. courses. A pass in the 3 year diploma examination conducted by the State Board of Technical Education of respective states with a minimum of 70% in the final year examination (for non-semester pattern).
