Shri Balaji College of Education for women was established by the Annai Meeenakshi Educational & Charitable trust to commemorate Thiru.E.M.Gopalakrishna kone of Madurai, a Philanthropist who started the Sri Gopalakrishna high school and E.M.Gopalakrishna kone yadava women’s college & in order to impart education for all and for women in particular. The founder constructed a hospital and donated the hospital to the poor people. It shows that the founder wanted to make our India as a Healthy & Wealthy nation by providing women education and good Health
The Trust was registered with registrar of Trust on 26.10.2005 vide registration No.1948 / 2005 The Managing Trustee & Chairman of the Trust is Mr.S.Muthukrishnan & Mr.R.Sankaran as they have dedicated themselves for the development and promotion of the Trust.
The College was Established after obtaining the recognition to conduct B.Ed course in Shri Balaji College of Education for women for the Academic year 2006 – 2007 with an intake of 100 students under the recognition order F.SRO/NCTE/B.Ed./2006-2007/10077 dated 09.01.2007 issued by the National Council for Teacher Education, a Statutory body of Government of India.
Consequently the authorities of Madurai Kamaraj University has granted affiliation MKU-CDC -5 /Fr-A / SBCE / B.Ed /2006-2007 dated 09.04.2007 to the Shri Balaji College of Education for Women, 15,Venkataraman Street, Kamala II nd Street, Chinnachockikulam, Madurai – 625 002. to start a self – Financing college of Education under the name and style of “ SHRI BALAJI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION FOR WOMEN”, 15,Venkataraman Street, Kamala II nd street, Chinnachockikulam, Madurai – 625 002.
Now, the authorities of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University has granted Continuation of provisional affiliation TNTEU/R/Affln-Contn/2009-2010/976 dated 19.11.2009 to the Shri Balaji College of Education for Women, Madurai (College Code No.11216).
