Located in Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi is one of the reputed private Engineering Colleges started under self-financing scheme on 17th October 1984. MEPCO refers to the Metal Powder Company, Thirumangalam and Schlenk is the German collaborator of the company. The institution is sponsored by the Mepco Schlenk Charities, a social welfare organisation of the Metal Powder Company Limited, Thirumangalam, which has won many National Awards for the outstanding performance in export promotion and R & D. The Board of Directors of our college are dynamic men with far sighted vision and wisdom, experienced in running several successful industries over three decades and also well-versed in running other educational institutions. The college was affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai and now it is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai from 2001. Sri. A. Grahadurai, Thiru. A. Vairaprakasam and Dr. S. Balakrishnan serve as the President, Correspondent and Principal of the college respectively. Our college was selected by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) for prestigious Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan National Award for having the Best Overall Performance in the year 1998 and 2005. Five of our undergraduate courses were subjected to accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation and all of them have been awarded the highest grade of ‘A’. Our college has received ISO 9002 certificate from M/s. DNV, Netherlands. Our college has been selected as an Centre of Relevance and Excellence (CORE) in Industrial Safety and was inaugurated by Bharat Ratna Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. FACILITIES Computing facilities at a cost of about Rs.2/- crores have been established in all departments. The college library and office also have been computerised. Boys & Girls hostels are also provided with computers to enable the students to work during late hours. About 450 systems are available in the campus as on date. Our college administrative office is fully computerised and air conditioned. On the whole, the total capacity of air conditioning systems is around 100 tons. Campus wide networking has been done to access internet from any department in the college., OUR MISSION IS TO PRODUCE COMPETENT, DISCIPLINED AND QUALITY ENGINEERS & ADMINISTRATORS THROUGH SERVICE PAR EXCELLENCE, To succeed in our mission, top priority has been given to discipline. "DISCIPLINE MAKES A NATION GREAT". Absolutely, there is no ragging in the campus or even outside for the past 22 years. Smoking is totally prohibited in the campus and this rule is not only applicable for our students, staff and Management, it is also applicable for the visitors and our honoured guests. No single student can be found loitering outside during the class hours. No marking of any sort can be found either on the walls or on furniture. This sort of practice has become the culture of the college and we are proud of it. In the hostel rules, study hour and silence hour have been introduced which are strictly implemented. We strongly feel that such rules are essential as the students are in the adolescence period. As a result of this practice, our students have secured 255 university ranks including 39 first ranks. They have also bagged many rolling shields and cups in all extra curricular activities including Sports, Fine Arts, Literary Association, N.S.S. and Photographic Club. Ours is coming as a model or ideal institution.The Management, Principal and Members of the staff strive hard for the personality development of our students. In this temple of learning, we are not only involved in teaching the subjects, but also in imparting true education to the students to mould them as good citizens of the country. Our goal is to develop this institution to the National / International Level by starting several post graduate courses and undertaking Research & Development work of a high order and finally raise the status to a Deemed University., LIBRARY FACILITIES: College Library is well housed in a separate two storied building with an area of 23,000 sq.ft with central Airconditioning system. The college Library has about 32,000 books and is subscribing for 262 journals including 88 foreign journals.The library activities are automated and for issue and return of books, we are using Bar Coding. Two computers have been dedicated for Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). One hour of library study per week is allotted in the time table for every class.
