THANTHAI ROEVER INSTITUTE OF POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE was started in 1984 as a non-grant Institution under the self financing scheme and it was approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu vide G.O.Ms.No.1760, dated 08.11.1984 and by AICTE vide. Lr. F.No.: 32/2002/7127 dated 02.07.2002 Director -cum- Regional Officer, SRO of AICTE, Chennai – 600 006. This is in reality a laudable landmark in the History of St. John Sangam Trust, as it opened opportunities for Technical Education to the neglected segment of Society. The Polytechnic has made rapid strides within a span of 33 years and it has now under its roof around thousand five hundred students undergoing courses in the following six branches., The Polytechnic College has an excellent infrastructure which includes several buildings on a 25 Acres Campus, with well equipped workshop and laboratories, a good reading room and library, a placement cell, a seminar hall, computer centre, hostel, sports ground and a cafeteria. The Institution is one among the Polytechnics selected by Ministry of Human Resource Development to implement the Community Polytechnic Scheme from 1996. This is an Institution Certified by ISO 9001 : 2008. The Institution has attained Silver Jubilee in the year 2008-2009. In the ensuring year we will attain the Accreditation. The State Project Co-Ordination Unit, have allotted to implement Canada India Project during the year 2009 – 2010.
