Initially the Polytechnic was housed in the premises of Regional School of Printing at Broadway, Chennai. The institution was then shifted to Vellore during June, 1961. The institution functioned in a rented building from July 1961 to September 1963. Lakshmi Garden, Officer Line, Vellore.
