University of Jammu, Jammu Department Of Commerce The Department of Commerce established in the year 1964, has now been upgraded to Department of Research Studies (DRS), first phase of Special Assistance Programme, funded with financial support of thirty-one lakhs. The SAP (Special Assistance Programme) has helped the department to grow to new heights. The department has new Computer Lab with Networking & Internet facilities, Library equipped with International & National journals & books & Faculty has now been provided with latest research based soft wares with Desktop-tft Computers & Laptops. Till today 42 batches of M.Com, more than 69 M.Phil and 54 PhDs students have passed out from the Department till now. The students have been employed in various national and multi-national companies like the Bhilwara, Oswal, Thompson India Ltd. and City Bank etc. as also in International Business Schools like the University of Louisville, USA, University of Almaya and University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and number of semi-government and government organizations. Mission To prepare future professionals to blossom in the local, national and global markets by equipping with depth theoretical and practical knowledge in business education. Objectives To provide high quality business education to the students and thus enable them to be confident and well-equipped with the knowledge and skill needed in the national and global markets vis-à-vis to provide extension service to the community in the form of the extension lectures, seminars and conferences on the most relevant topics.
