Ranjit Singh Memorial Post Graduate College, popularly called RSM College, is a co-educational institution in Dhampur town of Bijnor district. This is the only agriculture college affiliated to MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, and is situated in agriculturally rich terai area of Uttar Pradesh, the most populated state in India., RSM College has about 3,750 students, including 1,100 girls on its rolls. The college offers education up to Post Graduate level through 24 departments in three faculties - Agriculture, Arts and Science. The college has over 100 qualified faculty members assisted by non-teaching staff and led by the dynamic principal Dr Ranjan Agarwal., RSM College was founded in 1958 by the Founder President Late Rani Phool Kunwari Sahiba in the memory of her late husband Rai Bahadur Ranjeet Singh, Raja Saheb of Sherkot Riyasat., The college initially began imparting teaching in Arts Faculty. It extended horizontally to Agriculture Faculty in 1960 and to Science Faculty (Biology group) in 1970 up to graduation level. When Rohilkhand University was set up in 1974-75 out of Agra University, the college was the only college offering agriculture subject., Since then the college is developing both vertically and horizontally. MA in Economics (1979) and Geography (1984) upgraded face of the college. B Sc (Mathematics) classes were started in 1993-94 completed the subjects at Graduation level in Science Faculty. Additionally under the vocational education scheme of the University Grants Commission at degree level, Industrial Chemistry was added in the subject of B Sc students in 1994. In 1999, M Sc classes in Agronomy and Agriculture Economics were started., Earlier, the college attracted students from as far away places as Assam and other north-eastern States. But with the creation of educational facilities there, this has stopped to a large extent. Now students from Dhampur and neighbouring places are benefiting from the courses that the college offers.
