In July 1963 Diploma courses in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering were introduced and the institution was made a Polytechnic with an intake capacity of 120 student; 30 in civil, 45 in Electrical and 45 in Mechanical. The Institute introduced a three year Diploma course in Agriculture Engineering with an intake of 30 student in 1973-74 making the total intake to 150.
