Located in ‘Rome was not built in a day’. D.B.S. PG College, Dehradun is an example of such a statement since its humble beginning in July 1961.It has been a long and an eventful journey to attain its position as a numero uno college of the region., This all had been possible with the untiring efforts of Late Dr. Virendra Swarup, MLC, Advocate and Chairman, Legislative council U.P and president, D.A.V College Trust and Management Society, Kanpur UP and the founder Principal Dr. Mata Baksh Srivastava who were the chief architects in founding, raising and manning this highly growing college of unique combinations and distinctions., The college was started in July 1961 having a couple of rooms and with only 93 students spread over the departments of Geology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Military Studied and Economics after proper affiliation with Agra University up to degree level. In 1962, Physics was added as an additional subject in B.Sc., in 1965 departments of Geology and Geography were upgraded to Post-graduate levels. Same year the college was transferred to Meerut University. Economics was upgraded to PG level and affiliation was also granted for under Graduate Classes in Hindi, English, Sociology, Zoology, and Botany in 1966. Keeping in view the outstanding performance of the college, Meerut University also granted affiliation in Post Graduate classes of M.Sc. Physics, M.A./M.Sc. Mathematics and M.Sc. Chemistry in 1969. The enrolment of 93 students had increased to 1500 and whole of the building which exists today was built in an initial span of just 12 years., During this short period, the college niched in the area of higher education in Northern India owing to its excellent university results and merit positions. Dr. Mata Baksh Srivastava forever lurks in the minds of those who practice education and discipline. His zeal and vision had been exemplary., OUR VISION, The vision of the college is to provide quality education, value system and develop quest for excellence and global competence among the students in tune with national Higher Education policy and to encourage the over-all personality development of the students thereby increasing their abilities, creative talent and excellence., Mission, To become as a centre of excellence in higher education., To enhance the human capabilities and potential to the fullest extent and achieve the excellence by enabling students to be more creative and innovative., To be a bridge between the urban-hill rural divide taking the benefits of education to the hilly and the marginalized aiming at their empowerment., To help disadvantaged groups, such as woman, SC, ST, OBC and minority, so that they can improve their performance in studies and get the rightful place in the society., Strengthen physical and academic infrastructure and human resources of the college by incorporating modern means of teaching and learning aids such as NM- ICT and Edu-Sat., To facilitate overall development of the students by quality education., To eradicate prejudices and to ensure equality for all., No discrimination on the basis of sex, caste, creed and religion., To inculcate sense of responsibility, character building, spirit of cooperation and empowerment of women for self esteem, thought building of equality and strength., To impart quality education to help students in developing proficiency and abilities which will further inculcate self confidence, decision making power & leadership qualities in them..
