Located in DESHABANDHU MAHAVIDYALAYA, an affiliate institution of the University of Burdwan and a registered academy of University Grants Commission imparts instructions on general degree courses in Science, Humanities and Commerce streams and professional degree courses in Advertising, Sales Promotion and Sales Management, BBA(Hons) & BCA(Hons).Established in year 1973, under the aegis of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works, Hindustan Cables Ltd. and a group of philanthropists, it travelled a terrain of hard times and had landed, with the blessings of the Govt. of West Bengal, the U.G.C., the CLW, the HCL, the people of the locality and many other well wishers, to a plateau ultimately., The college admits students in Honours Course in Bengali, English, Hindi, Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Mathematics, Accountancy and Geography and General Courses in Bengali, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Economics, Political Sc, Philosophy, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Commerce., Goals:, Deshabandhu Mahavidyalaya was established with the specific objective to cater to the need of Higher Education of the locality.This College has also the goal to develop healthy student - teacher relationship, to inculcate among students values that will help them live in harmony with the world at large and to help them become efficient members of the futuristic society.This College also does not ignore the imperative to generate employment as well as helping students to bring their learning bear upon every day of existence.Teachers of the college leave no stone unturned in preparing the students to become worthy future citizens of the country. Besides formal teaching, they inculcate among the students values of social commitment.Non-teaching staff are like backbone of the college. Although very few in number, they manage the affairs efficiently. It is possible because there is harmony among them.Students are the real strength of a college. They are sincere and diligent. Besides curricular activity they also take part in different extra curricular activities. NSS Unit of the college tries to develop social awareness among the students. I am happy that ex-students of the college has formed Alumni Association in 2004 and take active part in different programmes of the college. The college has also very recently formed Parent-Teachers Association with a view to secure the help of the guardians in maintaining proper academic atmosphere., Location, Deshabandhu Mahavidyalaya is at the heart of Chittaranjan Township.It is situated beneath th Kangoi Hill, a beautiful place with free and congenial atmosphere.
