When two or more candidates obtain the same total marks in NEET UG, tie-breaking rules are applied to determine their relative ranks. The order of tie-breaking generally follows several criteria. First, the candidate with higher marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology combined) is given the better rank. If the tie still persists, the candidate with higher marks in Chemistry is ranked higher. If the tie continues, the candidate with fewer incorrect answers across all subjects is preferred. If the tie still remains unresolved, additional statistical methods may be used by the National Testing Agency to assign ranks fairly.
