Department of Plastic Surgery
One of the premiere and oldest centre of excellence for training and research. Provides teaching, training and research facilities to MBBS, BDS, MS (Gen. Surgery), MS (Orthopaedics) and M.Ch. students.
Department provides comprehensive management of patients presenting with problems related to general plastic surgery, cranio-maxillofacial surgery, aesthetic surgery, hand surgery and microvascular surgery.
Plastic surgery was started in KGMC, in the year 1953, by Late Prof. R. N. Sharma, who is considered the 'Founder' of this speciality in North India. In 1962, a unit of Plastic Surgery was created. MS in Plastic Surgery was initiated in 1966.
