Silchar, a key educational and cultural center in southern Assam, is anchored by premier institutions like National Institute of Technology Silchar and Assam University. While event dates may shift slightly year to year, the city’s core college fests and symposiums remain reliable annual fixtures—featuring interdisciplinary academic meets, coding competitions, cultural showcases rooted in Bengali, Dimasa, and Manipuri traditions, and programs focused on sustainable development in Northeast India’s unique ecological and social landscape.

- Assam University, Silchar – Organizes the Assam University Youth Festival and Barak Valley Academic Conclave, featuring competitions in Bengali literature, debate, classical/folk dance (Sambalpuri, Manipuri), fine arts, and research presentations on ecology and social sciences.
- Cachar College & Other Affiliated Degree Colleges – Conduct inter-college youth festivals under the Assam Higher Education Department, emphasizing regional languages, science exhibitions, elocution, and folk theatre—held consistently each academic year.
- Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) – Hosts medical symposiums, public health camps, and interdisciplinary health-tech expos, often integrated with student-led awareness campaigns on rural healthcare.
