ATMA 2026-2027 Syllabus: Section-Wise Topics & Question Distribution
The AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) syllabus is meticulously structured to test essential executive skills across three broad domains: Analytical Reasoning Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Verbal Skills. In the exam, each of these three domains is split into two distinct 30-question sections (total 6 sections, 180 questions across 180 minutes).
1. Analytical Reasoning Skills (Sections I & IV • 60 Questions Total)
This domain tests the candidate's logical deduction, pattern recognition, and analytical decision-making capabilities without requiring complex mathematical formulas:
- Arrangements & Puzzles: Linear seating arrangements, circular arrangements, matrix assignments, floor puzzles, and scheduling problems.
- Deductive Logic & Syllogisms: Standard categorical syllogisms, statements and conclusions, statements and assumptions, course of action, and assertion-reasoning.
- Critical Reasoning: Strengthening and weakening arguments, identifying flawed logic, inferences, and paradox resolutions.
- Relations & Directions: Blood relations (coded and family trees), direction sense tests, and coordinate pathway navigation.
- Sequencing & Coding: Number and letter series, coding-decoding, alphanumeric patterns, analogies, and odd-one-out classifications.
- Data Sufficiency: Logical conditionality checks and truth-teller / liar riddles.
2. Quantitative Skills (Sections III & VI • 60 Questions Total)
Evaluates numerical aptitude, arithmetic comprehension, algebraic formulation, and data interpretation up to Class 10/12 standard mathematics:
- Commercial Arithmetic: Percentages, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, partnership, ratios and proportions, averages, mixtures and alligations.
- Work, Speed & Time: Time and work, pipes and cisterns, speed, distance and time, problems on trains, boats and streams, relative speeds.
- Number Systems: Factors, multiples, LCM and HCF, divisibility criteria, unit digit calculations, remainders, surds and indices.
- Algebra: Linear equations in one and two variables, quadratic equations, polynomials, inequalities, arithmetic and geometric progressions (AP/GP).
- Geometry & Mensuration: Triangles, circles, quadrilaterals, polygons, Pythagorean theorem, 2D perimeter and areas, 3D surface areas and volumes.
- Modern Math: Basic permutations and combinations, fundamental counting principle, probability, set theory, and Venn diagrams.
- Data Interpretation: Bar graphs, pie charts, line graphs, data tables, and numerical caselets.
3. Verbal Skills (Sections II & V • 60 Questions Total)
Measures comprehension of written English, grammatical precision, and contextual vocabulary usage required for management communication:
- Reading Comprehension (RC): Passages drawn from business, philosophy, technology, literature, sociology, and economics, testing direct facts, central theme identification, author tone, and implicit conclusions.
- Grammar & Sentence Correction: Subject-verb agreement, modifiers, verb tense consistency, parallel structure, prepositions, articles, and common idiomatic errors.
- Vocabulary in Context: Synonyms, antonyms, contextual word usage, analogies, idioms and phrases, and homophones.
- Verbal Organization: Para jumbles (sentence rearrangement), sentence completion, paragraph summary, and cloze tests.
