Founded in l981 in memory of an honest & sincere teacher Late Baidya Nath Prasad on his first death anniversary coinciding with Centenary of Indian Factories Act, 1881, the first law providing for social justice to factory workers by the then British colonist Govt, Institute of Administrative Studies was the first autonomous Non-Govt.

The college was established in the year 1967 as an affiliated college.In the year 1980, it became a constituent unit of B.R.A.Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. It is imparting teaching upto Hons level in both Science and Arts faculties.Besides traditional subjects teaching vocational course like B.C.A. and Tour and Treval Management is also taught in this college.
