This is the era of the reflection of sea change in all the spheres. The antecedent and the consequent factor is the human being. The pivot of all the research orientations in varied disciplines is to enhance the quality of life of human beings. Quality of all the materialistic and physical manifestations on the one side depend upon the efficiency, effectivity and quality of human brain but on the other side at the same time, now a days stress and anxieties are taking a toll on human cognitive affairs resulting into various psychological problems, neurological disorders and various other psychosomatic and behavioural aberrations.

So as to alleviate the later type of problems the researches to deal with the cognitive, emotional and behavioural aspects are mainly targeting at encompassing the holistic view of human nature. To make such department as one of the premier department in the field of Psychology and to render its contribution for the welfare of the human kind this department of Applied Psychology was established in the year 1996. It conducts a two years full time post graduate training leading to M.Sc. in Applied Psychology and one year Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling and Behaviour Modification through Distance Education Mode is also run by the Department.

This Professional training is designed with the primary objective of preparing applied psychologists to intervene in a wide range of human problems. Three distinct components of training are focused: (1) diagnosis and management of psychological and behavioral problems in children & adults (2) development of human potentials and (3) conducting logical analysis of the complex problems posed by specific human situations. The department also provides opportunities for higher studies in various specialisations. The students are trained as skilled psychological consultants and investigative scientists exposing them to a wide variety of natural and organizational setting. The course structure is constantly updated to incorporate recent advances in the field of applied Psychology.
