Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) Design Aptitude Test (IDAT)

Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) invites applications for admissions into its courses offered at New Delhi campus for the academic session. Admissions are based on the merit of candidates determined by the performance of applicants in iDAT, Personal Portfolio & Personal Interview. IDAT is a yearly exam conducted for admissions to Bachelor degree programs in Fashion Design, Interior Architecture & Design and Communication Design Courses at Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD), New Delhi.

The iDAT is a mandatory two hour test for all applicants, and will be administered at prescribed testing centres. The IIAD Admission Committee will review each student's aptitude for observation, drawing and design skills, imaginative and creative expression, and visual and communication strengths. Test papers and answer sheets will be supplied by the IIAD Examination Centre on the day of testing.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed the CBSE/ISC/IB (or any other equivalent board) 10+2 examination in any discipline. Candidates who have recently appeared for the examination and are awaiting their results may also apply for Indian Institute of Art and Design Admission.

Candidates must have an interest in and a flair for art and design. Any additional knowledge or experience in drawing/sketching, model making and visual art forms would be an asset towards your admission.

The IIAD follows a Two-Step evaluation procedure for IIAD admission to its courses. Candidates will have to clear :

  1. The IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT)
  2. A comprehensive interview and portfolio assessment before our panel of art and design professionals
  3. Students applying for Interior Architecture & Design can be exempted from the iDAT written test based on their NATA score. Should they attain the required cut off score they will progress directly for their Portfolio Assessment and Interview.

How to Apply

Online Applications

Online applicants are required to submit their applications through the IIAD admissions portal www.applytoiiad.com

The online application fee payment of Rs.1,800 must be made through credit/debit/netbanking facilities of all major banks. In case the application fee is paid offline, please see the OFFLINE APPLICATIONS segment for details.

Applicants seeking scholarships must download and complete the scholarship application form. Please mention your online application form number in the top right hand corner of the scholarship form. The completed application form may either be sent by email to [email protected] or sent to the following address: Admissions Team, B-26, Okhla Phase 1, New Delhi 110020 at the earliest.

Note: Candidates who have purchased the application form from select outlets, do not need to pay the application fee again at the time of submission. Please mention your payment details on Page 4 of the application form. Copy of Receipt to be attached.

The 'Statement of Purpose' essays should be clearly typed and printed, and submitted with the completed application form.

- The application form and brochure is also available at select outlets at a fee of Rs. 1,800. If this fee is paid at the time of purchase from any outlet, the fee need not be paid again at the time of application submission.

- The application fee can be paid in cash or through a demand draft for Rs. 1,800 in the name of : Teamwork Education Foundation, Payable at New Delhi. Mention your name, application form number and cell phone/contact number on the back of the demand draft.

Selection Process

The IIAD follows a TWO-STEP evaluation procedure for admission to its courses. Candidates will have to clear:

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.

Paper Pattern

The iDAT is a mandatory two hour test for all applicants, and will be administered at prescribed testing centres.

iDAT examinees will need to bring :
- Pens/Pencils
- Dry colours (pencils/pastes)
- A ruler
- A pen
- A gluestick
- A small pair of scissors

(Details will be mentioned in the iDAT Exam Admittance Card)

Results

The candidates are required to enter their respective IDAT Roll Number for checking their result and downloading of their scorecard. The result will furnish the rank secured by the candidates. Based on the result of IDAT and the cutoff screening, eligible candidates would be selected for the next round of selection process. The selected candidates would be enlisted in a merit list and will be called for counselling cum allotment on the basis of appearance in the list.

Counselling

Candidates who are qualified in Indian Institute of Art & Design (IIAD) Design Aptitude Test will be called for the counselling process of IDAT.
