Located in St. Joseph's Evening College. The Society of Jesus, a Catholic religious order, popularly known as Jesuits, runs this College. St. Ignatius of Loyola was the founder of the Jesuit Order in 1540. Its members have been active in the field of education throughout the world. St. Joseph's Evening College, established in 1972 is part of their large educational endeavor. The College is registered under the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society, which has St. Joseph's College, St. Joseph's College of Commerce, St. Joseph's College of Business Administration and St. Joseph's Boys' High School as a part. This society in-turn is affiliated to Karnataka Jesuit Educational Society, Bangalore. Although the College is a religious minority institution run primarily for the education of employed Catholic youth, everyone is welcome here without distinction of caste and creed. The socio-economically marginalized groups receive a special preference in keeping with the admission policy of the Management., Instead of saying that man is a creature of circumstances, it would be nearer the mark to say that man is the architect of circumstance. It is character, which builds an existence out of circumstance. From the same material one can build palaces, another hovels, one a warehouse, another a villa. Bricks and Mortar are mortar and bricks until the architect can make them something else. S.J. who succeeded Fr. Rebello as the Principal in July 1976 remained at the helm for 4 years till August 1980. As an able administrator his tenure was marked by consolidation of the college. He served the College in two capacities, first as the teacher of History from 1973-76 and later the Principal. During his term as the Principal, the College enjoyed a high reputation in sports and games, academics and co-curricular activities. One of his early obsessions as a teacher was to provide clean literature to students. Wherever he went, he furthered the cause of clean literature drive. He was known for hardwork and for the improvements he had affected in the college for the benefit of the staff and students during his 4 years in the college.The College acquired its true nature during his time. He was a lover of sports and gave lot of importance to extra curricular activities. Whenever he could spare sometime from his hectic schedule, he would personally view the various tournaments. His tenure was marked by the presence of two great cricket personalities, Syed Kirmani and Roger Binny who are proud to call themselves josephites. Social Service League was one of the associations he patronized both as a teacher and principal. He was known for the interesting staff meetings where long discussions were held. In all, he is referred to as a friend, philosopher and guide to whom the staff and the students could go with confidence in all their difficulties and problems..
