The mission of our school is to provide a value-based education and mould the character of our younger generation through synergy of science and spirituality so that their earnest endeavour to achieve progress and prosperity in life is matched by an ardent desire to extend selfless service to the society, one complementing the other. The school will strive to advance, innovative teaching methods and research that it can meet the needs of nation in preparation of medicine and management of diseases through Ayurveda.
To provide superior quality undergraduate programmes and in the future, post graduate programmes in Ayurveda, with state of art facilities, to enhance the research and learning experience, and facilitate the training of a skilled work force to meet the current and future needs of Ayurvedic fields of medical science. The B.A.M.S. course provides a vibrant environment where science, education and technology go hand in hand. It catalyzes an environment for innovative teachings and research in the field of Ayurvedic management of different types of diseases. Ayurveda takes care of the disabled and diseased -- those who need to be protected , recovered and saved from their disabilities and ailments. These goals are achieved by providing excellent training in the field of preparation of medicine and clinical training of students in disease management, so that they become competent and can satisfy the needs of society in traditional health care. Extension activities include conducting frequent medical camps, awareness classes conducted by students and providing research projects within the curriculum and professional course. There are fourteen departments of teaching dealing with different aspects and specialities of Ayurveda.
The herbal garden of the Institute is spread out in an area of 5 acres of land where 500 rare species of medicinal plants are grown. The herbal garden is very well useful for the students of all professions especially for the 2nd BAMS students who have Dravyaguna Vijnayana as a prime subject. The Dept. of Dravyaguna Vijnyana has a prime role in conception and maintenance of the garden.
Amrita School of Ayurveda has an excellent Library, perhaps the best among all Ayurveda College Libraries in India. The library has been carefully planned to have more space and natural lighting for the comfort of the users. It has the capacity to accommodate 300 students at a time.
Internet Access: The Library has a separate "Internet Browsing" section. Desktop computers are reserved for use of the students and for the faculty members.
Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda (ĀCĀRA) is a new initiative of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham at the Amrita School of Ayurveda located in the Amritapuri Campus of the University. ĀCĀRA is inspired by the vision of Amma to provide a scientific backing for traditional medical practices and pave the way for the development of an evidence-based Integrative approach to health care. Ayurveda is being increasingly accessed by people world over and has an unbroken continuity in its practice in India. ĀCĀRA aspires to create a platform to facilitate dialogue between practitioners of biomedicine and Ayurveda and conduct research studies to develop Integrative Medical Care guidelines as well as a model centre for Collaborative Integrated Health Care. ĀCĀRA will also engage in collaborative research with scientific organisations and universities worldwide to enable global acceptance of Ayurveda.
