The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Cheruvandoor campus was established in the year 1993. For the past twelve years since we have been successfully running the institution with developments coming up every year. The department is approved by the AICTE and PCI. We have state-of-the art facilities with all supporting infrastructure required for an institution of high repute.Located in the serene atmosphere in the village Cheruvandoor, our institution is spread over a vast area of 3.5 acres. We have spacious and well-ventilated classrooms and full-fledged independent labs for every discipline accompanied by preparation rooms and staff rooms. In addition we have a computer lab with a seating capacity of 20. We also have a library with access to more than 4000 scholarly journals and we are also equipped with the INFLIBNET supported by the UGC. The college has its own transport facility, canteen, playground etc. We are the proud owners of facilities required for advanced research activity that includes., Our students are admitted both at the UG & PG level purely on merit basis. Their excellence all these years have been proved beyond doubt not only during their course here but also in their professional life. Every year not less than ten students at the UG level qualify the GATE exam with very high percentile scores. Last year the our success rate in the examination was 99.92%. All our first batch of PG students who passed out this year have been absorbed by top companies in the Pharma industry. We also have an active placement cell providing campus interviews and placements to more than fifty percent of the students passing out every year. To keep up with the latest developments in the Pharma field we have been periodically conducting seminars and workshops sponsored by ICMR, AICTE, IFCR etc. This year we have also conducted many subject related seminars by eminent professors. We frequently send our students to International Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Industrial tours to get a first hand experience in the Pharma field. The staff are also sent to QIP programs to keep themselves abreast with latest developments in technology. This year we have been successful in obtaining a MODROBS project worth Rs.15 lacs sponsored by AICTE for the Evaluation of indigenous ant diabetic drug preparations for their activity. Due to the rapid striding progress we have made in the academic field the University is taking all the efforts to make our campus a full-fledged research centre., Apart from academic programmes we have conducted the third state Pharmacy Kalolsavam -'Phazara 2006'- this year in which more than 2000 delegates participated from all over Kerala.
