Department of Mathematics Exam Timetable 2026

Earlier to establishment of the Department of research in Mathematics by the University of Madras, it encouraged young men of promise to undertake research studies in Mathematics in the University. The first of them was the late Srinivasa Ramanujan, who was given a special research scholarship for a number of years, while he was pursuing his prolific work on the Theory of Numbers with Professor Hardy at Cambridge. He was offered a professorship in the Department of Mathematics, University of Madras, after his return from England.
