Uttar Pradesh Management Common Aptitude Test (UPMCAT) is entrance examination for admission into management programs offered from government and private universities and institutes in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) Lucknow is the competent authority for administration of examination and admission procedure. On the basis of merit in UPMCAT candidates are offered admission in undergraduate and postgraduate programs equivalent to Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) and Master in Business Administration (MBA).

Students, undergraduate with 12 year education and graduate with 12 + 3 or 12 + 4 year of education in any discipline viz, arts, sciences, commerce, engineering etc write UPMCAT for admission into BBA / MBA / MMS / MIBM / MMEM / MTM / MCM / MFC management courses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Admissions are open to Indian Nationals only. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from an institution / university located in the state of U.P. are eligible for admission at all the institutions (irrespective of their domicile).
  • Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from institutions located outside the State of Uttar Pradesh are eligible for admission to all the courses at all the institutions and universities inside U.P. except Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College – MNREC Allahabad, now known called as National Institute of Technology (NIT) Allahabad.

Reservation of seats:

  • 21% seats are reserved for schedule caste (SC), 2% seats are reserved for schedule tribe (ST) and 27% seats are reserved for other backward category (OBC) candidates respectively on all India basis.

Educational Qualification:

  • A three year Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or board.
  • Candidates who are due to appear in the qualifying examination or have appeared but results are awaited, are also eligible to take the Uttar Pradesh Management Common Aptitude Test 2017 (UPMCAT 2017).

How to Apply

  • Go to the official website.
  • Click on the link of UPMCAT 2015 Application Form.
  • Download the application form.
  • Fill the application form with required details.
  • Enter the application fee details.
  • Upload the scanned photograph and signature of the candidate.
  • Click on the submit button.
  • Take printout of the application form.

Exam Pattern

The UPMCAT Test consists of multiple choice objective type questions to test the Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical & Abstract Reasoning and Knowledge of Current Affairs. The test is divided into four sections.

Section A – Test of proficiency in English Language. The questions cover grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms,

  • relationship between words and phrases and comprehension of passages.
  • Section B – Test of Numerical Aptitude based on general mathematics, numerical calculation, arithmetic, simple algebra and geometry. This also tests the ability to interpret common graphs charts and tables.

    Section C – Speed And Accuracy Of Thinking and decisions making. The test is based on assessment of figures, diagrams, unfamiliar relationships and verbal reasoning.

    Section D – Knowledge of current affairs related to trade, industry,Economy, Sports and culture.

    Syllabus

    Verbal Ability

    This section will evaluate a candidate’s proficiency in English Language. The candidate will be tested on the following:

    • Grammar
    • Vocabulary
    • Sentence completion
    • Synonyms
    • Antonyms
    • Relationship between words and phrases
    • Passage comprehension

    Quantitative Aptitude

  • Through this section, a candidate’s Numerical Aptitude will be evaluated. The candidate will be tested on the following:
    • General mathematics
    • Arithmetic
    • Numerical calculation
    • Geometry
    • Algebra
    • Interpretation of graphs charts
    • Interpretation of tables

    Logical & Abstract Reasoning

    This section will assess a candidate’s speed, accuracy, thinking and decision making ability. Candidates can expect questions from the following topics:

    • Figures
    • Diagrams
    • Unfamiliar relationships
    • Verbal reasoning

    General Knowledge

    This section will consist of general knowledge and current affair questions related to the following topics:

    • Trade
    • Economy
    • Culture
    • Sports
    • Business etc.

    Admit Card / Hall Ticket

    The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

    The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.

    Results

    The candidates are required to enter their respective UPMCAT Roll Number for checking their result and downloading of their scorecard. The result will furnish the rank secured by the candidates. Based on the result of UPMCAT and the cutoff screening, eligible candidates would be selected for the next round of selection process. The selected candidates would be enlisted in a merit list and will be called for counselling cum allotment on the basis of appearance in the list.
