Located in Institute of co-operative management Dehradun was established in 1965 as an In-service training center for Managers of Cooperative organizations. The Institute functions under the aegis of Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India with linkages with various National and international organizations., On the basis of the recommendations of All India Rural Credit Survey Committee, constituted by RBI in 1953, a three-tier setup for the training of the cooperative personnel, functioning at various levels was established. Under the three-tier setup for the training, it had been planned that national institute of cooperative management will take care of the training needs of the senior personnel of cooperatives of the country. The Institutes of Cooperative Management will cater to the training needs of the middle level officers/managers of cooperatives and the junior training Institutes will be providing training to the other staff of cooperatives., Under the arrangement mentioned above, institutes of cooperative management started coming into existence. The same institution; Institute of Cooperative Management was shifted to 6, Old Mussoorie Road, Rajpur in the year 1965. The institute was formed in order to cater to the training and consultancy needs of the cooperative organizations of Uttar Pradesh. Later, in Nov.2000, the training institute was assigned to provide training & education and undertake research and consultancy for the cooperatives of newly formed state – Uttranchal now renamed as Uttarakhand., Hence it can be said that ICM has been functioning as an intellectual nerve center for the cooperative movement but also rural development as well as different types of enterprises. Functioning since last 48 years as management training, research & consultancy, the institute is catering to the needs of various cooperative organization, government department, NGOs and other national and state institutes as well as other organizations., In the Year 2005 MBA programme was started with accreditation from AICTE and Affiliation to Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun. The MBA programme could reach its world class level by leveraging on the knowledge base of more then 45 years and the Industry linkages at National and International level., While World class core faculty has been the strength of the MBA programme, new researches on teaching Methods has given the additional desired strength. The institute follows the best practice of world class management institutes like Harvard, California, Oxford Cambridge, Massachusetts, IIMS etc., By the consistent efforts of Management & Ministry of Agricultural Govt. of India.
