The department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy of BLDE University and its constituent college Shri B M Patil Medical College and Research Center, Vijaypur, Karnataka, India was established in the year 1986. The department of Pathology was established in the year 1987 with undergraduate course. The department was recognised for postgraduate courses in the year 1996. Total number of teaching faculty is 26, of which 5 are Professors and recognized PG teachers, 2 are Associate professors, 5 Assistant professors and 28 tutors., 4 are PhD guides.Total number of non teaching staff is 42. The intake of MBBS seats is 150 and for post graduate courses; 5 MD & 2 DCP, 2 PhD seats. The department also runs BSc MLT and Histotechnology technician course.
