MITID DAT Syllabus
MITID's published admissions guidelines describe the areas and formats assessed by the Design Aptitude Test rather than a fixed chapter-wise syllabus or topic-weightage table. The current guidelines list the following preparation areas:
| Assessment area | What to practise |
|---|---|
| Design inclination and visual clues | Observation, visual interpretation, design awareness, form, composition, colour, everyday objects and design problem-solving. |
| Analytical understanding | Reasoning and scientific understanding, including the PCM-related analytical questions identified in MITID guidelines. |
| Logical thinking | Pattern recognition, inference, sequencing, spatial relationships and structured problem-solving. |
| Communication | Verbal and non-verbal expression, written responses, drawing and sketching to communicate a concept. |
| Drawing | Observation, visualisation, composition, proportion and communicating ideas using the materials allowed at the centre. |
| Personality trends | Questions intended to understand a candidate's individual standpoint and motivation. |
The exam page describes a computer-based MCQ section, a computer-based descriptive section and an offline drawing section. MITID notes that parameter weightage may change; check the latest applicant instructions and sample papers rather than assuming a permanent marks split.
