About National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2027
The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA) for admission to the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) programme. NATA assesses aptitude for architecture through drawing and composition as well as cognitive, visual, analytical and reasoning skills. As checked on 9 October 2026, the official portal publishes NATA 2026 information and has not announced a 2027 schedule. Treat dates, fees, eligibility details and the examination format for 2027 as pending until CoA issues the next brochure.

Eligibility and B.Arch. admission criteria
The NATA 2026 brochure allowed candidates who had passed or were appearing in the prescribed 10+2 examination to take the test; the brochure also described a 10+3 diploma route with Mathematics. Appearing in NATA is not, by itself, proof of eligibility for a particular B.Arch. seat. Under the 2026 brochure's admission qualification, candidates needed to pass 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and one of Chemistry, Biology, a Technical Vocational subject, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics or Business Studies, with at least 45% aggregate; the alternative was a 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics and at least 45% aggregate. Admission authorities may apply their own counselling requirements. Confirm the exact 2027 rules in the new CoA brochure.
Application fee
The NATA 2027 application fee has not been announced. Fees may depend on candidate category and the permitted test attempt or phase. Check the amount shown in the official registration portal before payment; the NATA brochure states that an application fee, once paid, is non-refundable. Do not rely on an older-cycle fee table for a new application.
Exam pattern and scoring
NATA does not publish separate subject streams in the 2026 brochure. Its latest published pattern combines a drawing-and-composition assessment with an online adaptive aptitude test. The 2026 session lasted three hours: Part A was an offline 90-minute test worth 80 marks, and Part B was an online adaptive test worth 120 marks. Part A had three tasks: a colour composition task (25 marks), a black-and-white sketching and composition task (25 marks), and a 3D composition task (30 marks). The 2026 brochure used a percentile-based score for Phase 1 and a raw score for Phase 2; it prescribed no minimum raw score for qualification and treated the final scorecard's non-zero percentile as a valid qualifying score. These rules are cycle-specific, not a promise of the 2027 pattern.
| 2026 component | Mode and scope | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Part A: Drawing and Composition | Offline; colour composition, black-and-white sketching/composition, and 3D composition; 90 minutes | 80 (25 + 25 + 30) |
| Part B: Aptitude assessment | Online adaptive test | 120 |
| Total | Three-hour test session | 200 |
| 2026 scoring | Phase 1 percentile-based score; Phase 2 raw score. No minimum raw qualifying score was prescribed in the 2026 brochure. | Cycle-specific |
