About VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2027
The VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) for admission to undergraduate B.Tech programmes at VIT campuses. Eligibility criteria
The 2026 VIT admission guidance requires a qualifying Class 12/+2 or equivalent examination. For the MPCEA route (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude), applicants need at least 60% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and at least 50% in Mathematics. For the BPCEA route (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude), applicants need at least 60% aggregate in Biology, Physics and Chemistry and at least 50% in Biology; this route is restricted to the B.Tech programmes listed by VIT. VIT specifies a 50% aggregate threshold for SC/ST applicants and applicants from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the North-Eastern states, subject to supporting documents at counselling. International Class 12 qualifications require an equivalence certificate. Confirm 2027 criteria in the next official prospectus.
Application fee
For VITEEE 2026, the official portal listed an application cost of โน1,350 for Indian test centres and the equivalent of US$90 in INR for overseas test centres. The 2026 fee was non-refundable. VITEEE 2027 fees have not been announced; check the live application portal before paying.
Exam pattern and marking scheme
The official VITEEE 2026 portal describes a 125-question, English-language multiple-choice test lasting 2 hours 30 minutes. The MPCEA and BPCEA streams share Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude sections and differ in Mathematics or Biology. In the 2026 pattern, a correct answer carried 4 marks, an incorrect answer carried a 1-mark deduction, and an unanswered or marked-for-review question carried zero. This pattern is cycle-specific and should be rechecked for 2027.
